Automated BPV Installation Achieves Safety Milestone in South Texas

BPVAutomationSafetySouth Texas

UniServe Wells Management LLC has successfully completed an automated Back Pressure Valve (BPV) installation operation in South Texas with zero personnel in the red zone — a significant milestone for wellhead safety.

The Operation

The operation was conducted on a producing wellhead where conventional BPV installation would have required personnel to work in close proximity to pressurized equipment. Using UniServe’s automated BPV installation system, the entire installation sequence was controlled remotely.

“This operation demonstrates that automation in well intervention is not a future concept — it’s a present-day capability that delivers real safety outcomes,” said the operations lead.

Why It Matters

Traditional BPV installation places crew members directly in the line of fire during one of the most safety-critical wellhead operations. By removing personnel from the red zone:

  • Elimination of exposure rather than management of risk
  • Consistent, repeatable installation sequence
  • Real-time monitoring throughout the operation
  • No compromise on operational control

Looking Ahead

The South Texas operation builds on UniServe’s growing track record of automated wellhead intervention. The company plans to expand automated BPV capability across additional operational regions in 2026.
